We have a passionate team of carpenters and builders who love working with our architects to provide firsthand feedback on buildability, cost and material data. Our focus is delivering top-tier craftsmanship in modular architecture across residential, beach and mountain houses, additions, multi-residential and small commercial projects, hotel and accommodation projects.
Position Summary
We're in search of an experience Carpenter to join Blok Modular, supporting our projects across a variety of typologies, scales and settings from coastal and hinterland sites to inner city and suburban projects across New South Wales and Queensland. Essential qualifications in Cert III in Carpentry, White Card and a background in the construction industry are required, with Brisbane-based experience and knowledge of modular construction principles desirable. We are value driven, results-oriented team players with strategic thinking abilities and a solid grasp of current building and contracts practices. In this role, you'll efficiently undertake carpentry and joinery work associated with the fabrication and assembly of modular building components for high-end architectural homes within our fast-paced environment.
Factory-based Tasks & Responsibilities
Carry out carpentry and joinery tasks including framing, cladding, decking, and fit-out work in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Interpret construction drawings, set out work accurately, and complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.
Assist in the training and direction of Trades Assistants and Apprentices as required.
Ensure work meets Blok Modular’s quality standards and report any defects or non-conformances.
Operate tools, plant, and equipment safely and maintain them in good working order.
Ensure accuracy in recording time and materials used for each task.
Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workshop and fabrication environment.
Follow all WHS procedures and immediately report any hazards, incidents, or injuries.
Site-based Tasks & Responsibilities (Occasional)
Attend site for modular installation, connection, and fit-off work as directed.
Undertake carpentry works on-site including adjustments, cladding, and finishing to ensure modules are installed to specification.
Comply with all site safety rules, inductions, and SWMS requirements.
Represent the Company professionally while working on client sites and coordinate respectfully with other trades.
Qualifications & Experience
Cert III in Carpentry
· Certificate IV in Building & Construction
· Minimum of 3 years carpentry experience (post-apprenticeship)
White Card
Dogging or Rigging Licence (preferred)
Knowledge of modular construction principles (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective teamwork
Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues are crucial
Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced construction environment are key attributes
Understanding specifications and drawings for accuracy and buildability is important
Confident communication with various stakeholders, ensuring messages are concise and impactful, is essential.
This role is classified under the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020 (MA000010) and remains factory-based for the purpose of award compliance.
