Heavy Metal Fabricator

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Metal Fabricator to join our team at General Steel in Caringbah.

This is a full-time role suited to someone with solid workshop fabrication experience who is confident reading shop drawings, working with structural steel, and assisting with site work when required.

General Steel is a busy structural and architectural steel fabrication business working on residential and commercial projects across Sydney.

The role will include:

• Reading and interpreting shop drawings

• Fabricating and assembling structural steel

• Welding, cutting, grinding and preparing steel

• Using workshop machinery, power tools and fabrication equipment

• Assisting with site work and installation when required

• Checking work for quality and accuracy

• Working safely and keeping the workshop organised

• Working with the team to solve issues and get jobs completed properly

The right person will have:

• Experience as a Heavy Metal Fabricator or similar role

• Strong welding, cutting and fabrication skills

• Ability to read and understand shop drawings

• Good attention to detail

• A practical, problem-solving attitude

• Ability to work well in a small team

• Commitment to working safely

• Relevant trade qualifications or industry experience

This role would suit someone who takes pride in their work, is reliable, and is happy to be part of a hands-on team.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.
