Freightquip is a leading supplier of freight handling equipment throughout Australia and New Zealand. We represent several global equipment manufacturers that operate in the airport, rail and port industries.
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trades Assistant to support our Western Sydney Airport workshop operations.
This is a hands-on role assisting with the servicing, maintenance and preparation of aviation ground support equipment (GSE). Working alongside experienced technicians, you will gain exposure to a wide range of specialised airport equipment including baggage handling equipment, aircraft servicing equipment, cargo loaders and towing equipment.
This role suits someone who is mechanically minded, enjoys practical work, and is looking to develop their skills within a specialised equipment and aviation environment.
Assist technicians with scheduled servicing and maintenance activities
Perform basic mechanical servicing and preventative maintenance tasks
Prepare equipment for service, inspection, delivery and customer handover
Clean, detail and maintain workshop equipment and work areas
Assist with fault finding, repairs and component replacement
Operate workshop tools and equipment safely
Conduct basic inspections and complete service documentation as required
Support workshop and field service activities as required
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
Experience using hand and power tools
Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, Workshop Assistant, Labourer or similar role (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Reliable, motivated and safety focused
Good communication skills and positive attitude
Car licence (C class) required
Ability to undertake drug and alcohol testing as required
Forklift Licence (desirable but not essential)
Minimum of 1 year professional mechanical experience required
Australian citizenship required
Work on specialised aviation and a range of specialised equipment
Stable workshop-based role
