THE ROLE
This is a hands-on apprenticeship working alongside experienced tradespeople on a wide range of residential construction projects. You'll be learning on the tools every day, contributing to real builds, developing practical skills & being coached by people who take their craft seriously.
Day-to-day, you'll be:
• Assisting with structural carpentry, framing, decking & finishing works
• Assisting with carrying materials, setting up & packing up site each day
• Keeping the site clean, safe & organised throughout the day
• Observing & learning correct techniques & building methods
• Taking direction from our Lead Carpenter & Director
• Representing Ambrose Building Group professionally with clients & trades on site
PROJECTS YOU'LL WORK ON
• Structural carpentry & residential extensions
• Internal renovations, including kitchens, bathrooms & living space reconfigurations
• High-end decks, pergolas, cladding & outdoor living spaces
• Quality-first finish work across a range of residential settings
HOW WE WORK
• We run safe, organised, professional sites
• We communicate clearly & treat clients, trades & each other with respect
• We invest in people who show up, work hard & want to improve
• We care about our workmanship & our reputation
SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS
The safety of our team is our highest priority. Since our establishment in 2022, Ambrose Building Group has maintained a zero reportable incident record, something we're committed to maintaining.
We operate with documented safe work method statements (SWMS) & standard operating procedures across our projects, ensuring every team member understands what is expected of them on site before work begins.
You will be inducted properly, supervised closely & never put in a situation you haven't been prepared for.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're not expecting experience, we're expecting the right attitude.
The person we hire will be:
• Reliable, on time, every day & ready to work
• Switched on, able to anticipate what's needed & get moving
• Coachable, able to take feedback well & apply it
• Physically capable, comfortable with hard work outdoors in all conditions
• Detail-oriented, committed to doing things properly, not just quickly
• A good communicator, respectful on site & willing to ask questions when unsure
• Respectful of company property, including taking care of the uniform
MUST-HAVES
• Current White Card
• Reliable vehicle & current driver's licence, full licence or P plates accepted
• Ability to travel independently between job sites & assist with material pickups
• Physical fitness & ability to perform manual labour
• A genuine interest in building, carpentry & construction
• A commitment to building a long-term career
• An understanding that apprentice wages reflect where you're starting, not where you're headed. Progression comes with demonstrated performance & reliability.
PREFERRED, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
• Basic hand tools
• Any prior experience in a trade, labouring or construction environment
WHAT WE OFFER
• A structured, supportive environment to learn the trade properly
• Consistent work on high-quality residential projects
• Mentorship from experienced tradespeople who genuinely invest in their team
• A professional, respectful site culture with a strong safety record
• Long-term career pathway within a growing business
A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU APPLY
We're a small, tight-knit team & we hire carefully. We're looking for someone who sees this as the start of a career, not just a job.
If you're someone who brings consistency, shows initiative & genuinely wants to learn, you'll thrive here.
If you're looking for easy work or a quick pay cheque, this probably isn't the right fit.
