About Browns Piling

Browns Piling has a proven track record of delivering complex D&C retention and foundation piling solutions across varying geotechnical conditions. We are a highly sought-after contractor for the delivery of a range of Geotech contracting capabilities – particularly Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles.

About the Role

A boilermaker specialising in piling tool maintenance and repairs fabricates, inspects, and repairs heavy-duty drilling and foundation equipment. Core duties include repairing auger flights, replacing drive hubs, hardfacing wear surfaces, and welding structural steel components to withstand high-torque civil construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Component Fabrication & Repair: Cut, shape, and weld heavy steel plates, augers, casing, and drilling teeth. Perform hardfacing on wear-prone areas to extend the lifespan of piling tools

  • Equipment Inspection: Conduct routine and pre-shift visual/non-destructive inspections on piling rigs, vibratory hammers, and drill strings to identify cracks, structural wear, or bent components.

  • Welding & Gouging: Utilize various welding processes (such as FCAW, SMAW, MIG, and TIG) and carbon arc gouging to repair structural defects and join metallic components.

  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturing specifications to ensure repairs meet precise dimensional tolerances.

  • Tool Operation: Safely operate workshop and field machinery, including plasma cutters, grinders, flame torches, and overhead cranes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong fabrication and welding experience together with a proactive and safety-focused attitude.

Essential Requirements

  • Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or an equivalent recognized boilermaker/welder apprenticeship

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in heavy fabrication, ideally within civil construction, mining, or foundation drilling

  • Technical Skills: High proficiency in hardfacing and structural welding

  • Safety & Compliance: Strict adherence to OHS/WHS protocols
