Heavy Duty Transport Mechanic

Location: Forrestfield, Perth

Full-time, Permanent 8/6 Roster

About the Role

Join our Service & Repairs team as a Heavy Duty Transport Mechanic, working on a consistent 8:6 roster based in Forrestfield, WA.  In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of a range of heavy-duty road transport equipment, ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet and our customers’ assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs on trucks and trailers, including brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and lighting
  • Repair, rebuild, and overhaul diesel engines and other components to OEM and BRE standards
  • Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
  • Identify recurring faults and implement preventative maintenance solutions
  • Collaborate with other mechanics, apprentices, and production teams to meet schedules and quality standards
  • Accurately document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain workshop equipment
  • Promote a strong safety culture and comply with all company and regulatory requirements

About You

  • Trade qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Automotive Mechanics or equivalent)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair
  • Strong technical knowledge of CAN-bus systems, EBS, hydraulics, and air brake systems
  • Current driver’s licence (HR/HC/MC licence highly regarded)
  • Experience with Mack, Western Star, Kenworth, Volvo, or Scania vehicles desirable
  • Ability to diagnose, problem-solve, and complete quality repairs efficiently
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and committed to safety and workmanship excellence
