Trades Assistant – Commercial & Residential Construction

IQ Construction is seeking a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant to join our growing team. Working across a variety of commercial and residential projects, you will assist our Maintenance Technician with repairs, installations, maintenance works, and general construction activities.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to develop their skills within the construction industry. You will work on diverse projects, supporting maintenance and construction operations while ensuring quality workmanship and safety standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Technician with commercial and residential maintenance works.

• Site support duties as requested.

• Basic carpentry, repairs, and installation tasks.

• Loading, unloading, and transporting materials and equipment.

• Site clean-up and housekeeping.

• Use and maintenance of hand and power tools.

• Assisting with property repairs, renovations, and construction projects.

• Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

• Communicating effectively with team members, subcontractors, and clients.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or a trades assistant role preferred.

• White Card (essential).

• Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport (essential).

• Ability to use basic hand and power tools.

• Strong work ethic and positive attitude.

• Physically fit and capable of manual labour.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
