As part of our commitment to maintaining a beautiful campus, we are currently seeking a dedicated full time Gardener to join our team.

Role and Responsibilities

As a full time Gardener at Yarra Valley Grammar, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the school's natural environment, ensuring that our grounds remain safe, aesthetically pleasing, and conducive to learning and exploration. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting regular maintenance and landscaping tasks, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, and weeding garden beds

  • Ensuring the overall cleanliness and tidiness of the campus grounds

  • Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems and watering schedules

  • Assessing and reporting on the health of plants and trees and implementing appropriate measures to promote growth and prevent disease

  • Assisting in the setup and coordination of outdoor school events and activities

  • Collaborating with other campus staff members to address specific landscaping needs.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one before commencing employment

  • Hold a Certificate III in Horticulture or be close to completion of the qualification

  • Have previous experience as a Gardener, preferably within an independent school or similar environment

  • Demonstrate knowledge of horticulture practices, landscaping, and garden maintenance

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and efficiently, with excellent time management skills

  • Show strong attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high standards of workmanship

  • Possess a genuine passion for creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces

  • Exhibit the flexibility to work occasional weekends or after-hours for special events or urgent tasks.
