About the role

Surefire Signs is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Signwriter to join our team in Chipping Norton, NSW. This is a fantastic full-time opportunity for someone looking to begin an exciting career in the signwriting and trades industry. As an Apprentice Signwriter, you will work alongside experienced professionals to develop practical skills in sign design, production, installation and finishing. This role is perfect for a first-year apprentice eager to learn the fundamentals of signwriting whilst working on real client projects in a supportive and professional environment.

Key responsibilities

1. Assisting experienced signwriters with the design and production of various signs including vinyl, digital, illuminated and traditional painted signs

2. Preparing surfaces and materials for sign installation and application

3. Learning and applying vinyl cutting, lettering and graphic design techniques

4. Assisting with the installation and removal of signs at client locations

5. Maintaining tools, equipment and workshop cleanliness and organisation

6. Following health and safety procedures and protocols at all times

7. Supporting the team with general administrative and project coordination tasks

8. Developing knowledge of design software and signwriting industry standards

What we're looking for

1. Currently enrolled in or committed to undertaking a formal signwriting apprenticeship (1st-3rd year)

2. Strong attention to detail and precision in your work

3. Excellent hand-eye coordination and practical dexterity

4. A willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople

5. Good communication and teamwork skills

6. Reliability and punctuality

7. Physical fitness and ability to work at heights when required

8. A keen interest in design, creativity and the signwriting trade

9. Basic literacy and numeracy skills

10. A valid driver's licence is preferred
