EDC Electrical & Co. is a rapidly growing, family-owned business based in Weipa. We take pride in our well-maintained fleet and modern workshop. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Fitter / LV Mechanic to join our team.

This is a hands-on role involving maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and operation of mobile plant and light vehicles in a safety-focused environment.

About the Role
You will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of our diverse fleet, including light vehicles, trucks, Cranes, Generators and associated plant and machinery.

The role will involve a combination of workshop-based and field service work, as well as operating machinery as required, depending on operational requirements.

Full-time role | Single-room accommodation provided or rental assistance

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform servicing, fault finding, repairs, and rebuilds on diesel equipment and LV fleet

• Maintain mobile plant, trucks, light vehicles, and ancillary equipment

• Conduct pre-starts, inspections, and defect reporting

• Completing job cards and service reports accurately

• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard

• Operate machinery as required (e.g. loaders, excavators, rollers, forklifts, telehandlers)

Minimum Qualifications

• Trade qualified Diesel Fitter and/or LV Mechanic

• Previous experience in mining, construction, civil, or heavy industry (preferred)

• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Competent operator with relevant tickets/licences (advantageous)

• Current QLD Driver’s Licence (HR preferred but not essential)

• Strong work ethic with a safety-focused mindset

• Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test

Additional Tickets & Desirable Qualifications

• Machinery tickets (e.g. Bobcat, Excavator, etc.)

• HC/MC Licence

• Current High Risk Work Licence
