Warrumbungle Shire Council is seeking an experienced plumber or water utilities operator to join the reticulation team in Coonabarabran, NSW, as Team Leader - Reticulation North

Reporting to the Supervisor Reticulation, you will work within a young, energetic, and high-performing operational crew focused on delivering quality outcomes for the community.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintaining, repairing, and operating water and sewer reticulation infrastructure
Responding to emergency breakdowns, leaks, blockages, and service faults
Supporting preventative maintenance programs and infrastructure reliability
Operating machinery and civil equipment, including jetters, excavators, backhoes, bobcats, and associated plant
Leading, mentoring, and supporting operational crews and apprentices (Team Leader role)
Coordinating day-to-day works, scheduling, and resource allocation (Team Leader role)
Supporting compliance with NSW Health standards, EPA requirements, and WHS legislation
Maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records
Working collaboratively within a team-focused operational environment
Participating in a rotating on-call roster for emergency response work and overtime opportunities
For the Team Leader Reticulation North position, you will ideally possess demonstrated leadership capability along with a Certificate IV in Plumbing and Drainage or contractor-level plumbing qualifications.
Council is also open to experienced plumbers or operators looking to step into leadership for the first time, provided you can demonstrate initiative, accountability, and the ability to lead from the front.
Experience within water utilities, civil plumbing, reticulation, or sewer infrastructure environments will be highly regarded across both opportunities.
Additionally, the following skills and experience will be highly valued:
Experience operating jetters, excavators, bobcats, backhoes, and civil machinery
Water utilities or civil plumbing experience
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
Traffic control, confined space, chemical handling, or excavation tickets
Strong safety focus and commitment to quality workmanship
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Leadership potential and the ability to positively influence team culture
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and grow
