About the role

Sunstate Petroleum is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team in Gympie, QLD. This is a full-time position based on-site at our facility in Gympie QLD 4570. As an Electrician, you will play a critical role in maintaining, installing, and repairing electrical systems across our operations. Your expertise will be essential to ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of our equipment and infrastructure, directly contributing to the reliability and safety of our business operations.

Australian citizenship is required for this position.

Key responsibilities

  1. Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in accordance with relevant standards and safety regulations

  2. Conduct regular inspections of electrical installations and equipment to identify faults and potential hazards

  3. Troubleshoot electrical problems and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime

  4. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity

  5. Read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications

  6. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies

  7. Collaborate with other tradespeople and operational staff to coordinate maintenance and installation projects

  8. Test electrical systems using specialised equipment to verify functionality and safety

  9. Maintain accurate records of work completed and report on maintenance activities

  10. Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues to restore services

What we're looking for

  1. Current and valid electrical licence or qualification recognised in Queensland

  2. Proven experience as a qualified electrician in industrial, commercial, or similar operational environments

  3. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a qualified electrician is required

  4. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit design, and safety standards

  5. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical documentation

  6. Experience with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment

  7. Sound understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and regulations

  8. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  9. Strong communication and teamwork abilities

  10. Reliability, punctuality, and a professional approach to work

  11. Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work at heights if required

  12. Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training
