Trades & Services / Plumbers
Posted 10/06/2026
Closes 24/06/2026
East Melbourne, 3002, Melbourne, Victoria
Full time
Two Roles. One Team.
Roofrite has been fixing other people's mistakes for 35 years. We'd rather not make any of our own.
That's why every new qualified roof plumber we hire goes through a 90-day onboarding program built around you — your gaps, your strengths, your growth. You'll work alongside our two best senior plumbers, sit regular check-ins with management, and actually understand the compliance side of this trade, not just assume you do.
Leading Hand
. $56-$64 per hour ($117,000 - $137,000)
. Above-award + Company Vehicle
Qualified Roof Plumber
. $52-$60 per hour ($110,000 - $128,000)
. Above-award | paid right, paid on time
Who We Are
Roofrite is a second-generation family business still run by its founders. We know exactly who we are: residential specialists, remediation experts, and the people owners corporations call when the last roofer left a mess too big to insure. Our reputation is the business. Which means your reputation matters to us too.
If you're good at this trade and want to get better, we'd like to meet you.
Qualified Roof Plumber — $52 to $60 per hour
This role has real range to it. At the lower end of the pay scale, we're open to someone who qualified within the last three years and is still building on their experience — you'll find the variety here accelerates that quickly. At the higher end, we're looking for someone who can not just support the Leading Hand but also when required run small residential projects independently: plan the day, manage materials, liaise with clients, and deliver a finished job without needing their hand held.
Either way, the work goes well beyond standard gutters and metal reroofs. Expect architectural builds, and lots of remediation work and the occasional cladding project. You'll be part of a close-knit crew where your input is valued, safety is non-negotiable, and quality and compliant workmanship is always the standard.
Career pathways into leadership, quoting, or mentoring are there if that's where you want to head. If you're happy doing excellent work on the tools, that's equally valued.
What you bring: Certificate III in Roof Plumbing and current Roof Plumbing Registration. White Card and Working at Heights. Solid workmanship, good communication, and a reliable attitude. Current Victorian driver's licence.
Leading Hand — $56 to $64 per hour + Company Vehicle
The pay range here reflects the scope of what we're asking for, and it's deliberately broad. At the lower end, you'll be managing smaller residential projects with a small crew and building your on-site capabilities. At the higher end, we expect someone who can run complex rectification projects with a larger team — coordinating trades, managing client relationships, overseeing site safety and delivering outcomes that meet a high compliance bar.
This is a hands-on supervisory role. You'll lead a small crew of roof plumbers, coordinate daily site activities, and be the first point of contact for clients and contractors while the job is running. You'll be supported by our Operations Manager but trusted to run your team with confidence, leading by example — on the tools alongside your crew.
For the right person, there are clear pathways into operations management or estimating. We promote from within where we can and we mean it.
What you bring: BPC (VBA) Registered Roof Plumber with at least 7 years' experience. Proven track record leading a team on site. Strong working knowledge of AS3500.3, site logistics, and scheduling. Working at Heights, White Card, and current Victorian driver's licence. First Aid/CPR and EWP are desirable.
What's on Offer — Both Roles
Above-award hourly rates, paid right and on time
Go home early on full pay when the job's done
Quality tools, PPE, and safety systems as standard
Genuine career pathways — leadership, operations, and estimating are real options here
A business that backs its people and promotes from within
Leading Hand only: Fully maintained company vehicle, yours to use for work and home.
