About the role

Pro Electric Group is seeking an Experienced Solar Roofer/Labourer to join our growing team in Melbourne. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in the installation and maintenance of solar energy and energy storage (battery) systems across residential and commercial properties. As an Experienced Solar Roofer/Labourer, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality solar solutions to our customers whilst maintaining the highest safety and workmanship. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects and contribute to the growth of Victoria's renewable energy sector.

Key responsibilities

1. Install solar panel systems on residential and commercial rooftops, ensuring correct positioning and alignment.

2. Prepare roof rail, mounting gear (brackets), and structures to support solar installations, including measurements, assessments, and necessary structural modifications

3. Assist in the safe handling and transportation of solar equipment and materials to installation sites

4. Perform roofing work, including repairs, maintenance, and modifications required for solar system integration

5. Execute electrical work associated with solar installations, working alongside qualified electricians under supervision, including cable runs.

6. Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure installations meet industry standards and customer specifications.

7. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including working at heights, electrical safety, and site-specific protocols, SWMS, and fall protection.

8. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers regarding project progress and requirements

9. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any defects or safety concerns immediately

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a solar roofer, labourer, or in a similar construction/installation role within the renewable energy sector

2. Demonstrated competency in roof work, including climbing, walking on pitched surfaces, and working safely at heights

3. Strong understanding of solar panel installation techniques, mounting systems, and electrical integration requirements

4. Valid working at heights certification or willingness to obtain this qualification

5. Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour throughout the working day

6. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

7. Current driver's licence and reliable transport to various installation sites across Melbourne

8. A valid White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one immediately upon hire

9. Strong safety knowledge with industry-standard safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
