About Us

Kailis Marine Engineering is a well-established Western Australian business specialising in ship repair, maintenance, and marine engineering solutions. We provide high-quality fabrication and engineering services across the commercial, fishing, and defence marine sectors.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fabrication Supervisor to join our Fremantle operations and lead a team of talented fabricators and welders in delivering top-quality results.


Primary Objective

To supervise and coordinate all fabrication activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of marine repair and maintenance projects in accordance with Kailis Marine Engineering standards and client requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead fabrication personnel to deliver quality workmanship safely, on time, and within budget.

  • Plan, allocate, and monitor daily work tasks for welders, fabricators, and apprentices.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards across workshop and site operations.

  • Interpret and review technical drawings, specifications, and work scopes.

  • Coordinate with engineering, project, and quality teams to resolve technical and production issues.

  • Manage materials, consumables, and equipment requirements for ongoing and upcoming jobs.

  • Conduct inspections to verify fabricated components meet specifications and tolerances.

  • Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.

  • Maintain accurate records of progress, time, and material usage.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive, safety-first culture.


Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Welding, or Boilermaking (Certificate III or higher).

  • Proven supervisory or leading hand experience in marine, heavy fabrication, or ship repair environments.

  • Marine industry experience is essential, with specific experience in marine fabrication and ship repair environments required.

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding procedures, and quality assurance standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong focus on workplace health, safety, and quality outcomes.

  • Able to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

  • Must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency with unrestricted work rights.
