Position Title

Handyman / Maintenance Technician

Role Overview

GA Commercial Services is seeking an experienced and reliable Handyman / Maintenance Technician to carry out general maintenance and repair works across commercial client sites throughout Melbourne. This is a mobile role, requiring travel to various locations and direct interaction with clients.

The successful candidate will be provided with a company vehicle, mobile phone, power tools, and all necessary equipment required to perform day‑to‑day duties safely and efficiently.

Scope of Works / Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform general building maintenance and minor repair works

• Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs

• Complete works to a high standard of workmanship

Patching & Painting

• Minor wall, ceiling, and plaster patching

• Internal and external painting (small to medium areas)

• Touch‑up painting following repairs

Basic Electrical (Non‑Licensed Only)

• Replace light globes and permitted light fittings

• Replace switches, covers, and basic fixtures where legally allowed

• Identify and report works requiring a licensed electrician

Basic Plumbing (Non‑Licensed Only)

• Replace taps, washers, shower heads, and fixtures

• Repair minor leaks where licensing is not required

• Unblock minor drains and install basic bathroom/kitchen accessories

• Identify and escalate works requiring a licensed plumber

Client & Team Liaison

• Liaise with clients professionally on a daily basis

• Collaborate with other GA Commercial Services team members

• Provide updates on job progress and completed works

Mobile Work

• Travel to client sites across all areas of Melbourne

• Manage daily job schedules and prioritise tasks

• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment

Health & Safety

• Comply with all WHS requirements and company procedures

• Maintain clean and safe work areas

• Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience as a Handyman or in a similar maintenance role

• Strong knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques

• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools

• Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

• Commercial maintenance experience

• Trade background or relevant certifications
