This opportunity is based at our Preston plant.
Our ideal candidate for this role will have a manufacturing background (packaging / metal). The person will be sufficiently experienced to hit the ground running and will be comfortable working with the production team and other departments.
You will be reporting to a very experienced and knowledgeable Tooling Manager and be responsible for working on various tooling projects.
Breakdown repairs of tooling within a manufacturing and production environment
Preventative maintenance of tooling
Ensure that tooling is properly maintained within manufacturing and engineering standards
Operate conventional machines: lathes, milling, drilling, grinding and other machines as used in the process of manufacturing tooling
Provide suggestions for tooling improvements
Investigate product, equipment, and process failure
Maintain up-to-date workshop drawings for the manufacture of tooling replacement and spares
Assist with tooling modifications, as required
Evaluate safety issues in relation to all tooling requirements
Participate in all safety and quality programs
Measuring skills to be at a high level to suit the process of manufacturing
Continuous improvement of skills to achieve the highest level of quality
Trade qualifications with a Certificate in Tool Making (Press Tooling - preferred) / Fitter and Turner
Extensive knowledge of press tooling, processes, and technologies
Extensive knowledge in the design of press and forming tooling
Good use and understanding of computer systems and programs
Sound knowledge of engineering and production processes
Good presentation of proposals and reports
Excellent understanding of design interpretation – 2D & 3D
Attention to detail
Works quickly and efficiently
Excellent problem-solving skills
Have full work rights
1 RDO per month
