Mechanical Fitter

Talloman is seeking a motivated individual who is able to work on rotating shifts assisting our Maintenance team on a full-time basis in Hazelmere.

Our Talloman division specialises in the processing of mixed abattoir materials and by products through our rendering plant located in Hazelmere. The site currently processes up to 3,500 tonnes of animal waste per week that would otherwise go to landfill.

Key responsibilities:

• Diagnose fault find, repair and maintain hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and other equipment/machinery in the plant
• Perform basic welding, maintenance, and repair work without supervision
• Perform lubrication and oil level check 
• Carry out start-up and shutdown proceedings
• Carry out major mechanical overhauls, refurbishments & repairs to equipment 
• Carry out precision fitting within fine precision tolerances relating to bearings, bushes and sleeves and other parts 

 

About you:

• A Mechanical Fitting trade certificate or equivalent
• Working in confined space/gas 
• Forklift high risk license
• Previous maintenance experience in a production environment
• Understanding and knowledge of MEX - desired
• A good understanding of root cause analysis
• Ability to trouble shoot and work safely under pressure
• Experience using Lathes, mills, pedestal drills, conveyors, compressors and pumps
