As a Mechanical Fitter / Machinist at Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you'll play a hands-on role in maintaining and repairing critical mechanical equipment across our operations. You’ll use your trade expertise to keep machinery running safely and efficiently while also mentoring apprentices and supporting the development of the next generation of tradespeople.

Your Role in Action 

  • MaintainCritical Equipment – Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on a variety of mechanical equipment and components. 
  • OperateWorkshop Machinery – Use lathes, mills, grinders, and other workshop equipment to manufacture or modify parts as required. 
  • Fit and Assemble Machinery –Install, assemble, and align mechanical systems and machinery components to operational standards.
  • Support Apprentices –Share your trade knowledge and provide guidance to apprentices to help build their skills and confidence.
  • Prioritise Safety –Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with site procedures and standards.
  • MaintainAccurate Records – Complete maintenance documentation and job records accurately and in a timely manner. 

Your Winning Combination 

Our ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Fitting, along with current Confined Space and Safe Working at Heights certifications and a valid driver’s licence. Previous experience in maintenance and repair of industrial plant equipment is essential, along with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to safe work practices. Additional tickets or certifications will be highly regarded, but we also value candidates who are eager to learn and continue developing their skills.
