About the role
The Rego Shop is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic to join our team in Port Macquarie, NSW. This is a full-time position based at our Port Macquarie location (NSW 2444). As a Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring our customers receive reliable and professional service. Your expertise will be fundamental to upholding our reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic equipment and manual inspection techniques
Performing routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing, and suspension work
Repairing and replacing faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
Conducting vehicle inspections and providing customers with detailed reports on necessary repairs
Performing pre-purchase vehicle inspections and roadworthiness assessments
Maintaining accurate records of work completed and parts used
Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
Operating workshop equipment and tools safely and efficiently
Communicating with customers regarding repair status and costs
What we're looking for
A recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent relevant experience
Proven experience as a Mechanic, ideally with a solid track record in general automotive repairs and maintenance
Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engine, transmission, suspension, braking and electrical systems
Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
A current driver's license with a clean driving record
Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and standing for extended periods
Knowledge of vehicle registration and compliance requirements is highly desirable
AIS examiner ticket required
Aircon ticket highly desirable but not essential
