Project Manager - Fleet Innovation

About the Role:
We are seeking a driven Technical Project Manager to lead the planning, procurement, and delivery of complex fleet, plant, and innovation projects. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of engineering, sustainability, and digital transformation. Overseeing everything from electrical vehicle/hydrogen fleet trials to telematics and workshop digitalisation.
  
What You'll Do:
  • Lead end-to-end project governance: business cases, charters, budgets, risks, benefit maps and monthly reporting
  • Develop technical specifications for heavy vehicles and plant (RCVs, sweepers, civil fleet), applying life-cycle costing and ISO 55000, leading on pre-delivery and acceptance testing
  • Drive Electrical Vehicle/Hydrogen transition; duty-cycle modelling, charger, energy management, and grant submissions
  • Own the telematics roadmap and integrate data with relevant systems
  • Lead procurement RFTs, evaluation, and contract management
  • Ensure HVNL/NHVR Chain of Responsibility compliance across all fleet and project activity
  • Ensure effect stakeholder management across operations, workshop, finance, sustainability, and executives
Essential Criteria:
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, or Electrical), Project Management, or equivalent experience
  • Proven delivery of fleet, plant, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of standards for heavy vehicles and legislation, including safe design
  • Procurement experience under NSW Local Government requirements
  • Asset management and life-cycle costing capability (ISO 55000)
  • Advanced data literacy; telematics, IoT, dashboards, and enterprise system integration
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to brief executives and train operational staff
  • Current Class C driver licence
Desirable:
  • PRINCE2 or similar
  • Experience with electric/hydrogen vehicle trials and charger deployment
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and grant processes
What we offer:
  • $550 per day + super
  • 35-hour work week (7hrs per day), for actual work life balance!
  • Weekly pay cycle
  • 6-month contract with potential for extension
