CLEANING OFFICER

Temporary/ Full time Maternity Cover (March 2027)

Location – Cannonvale

$69,537 – $70,100

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaner Officer to support the presentation and upkeep of Council-operated public amenities and facilities across the Cannonvale area.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring our community spaces are clean, safe, and well maintained for residents and visitors. The successful candidate will undertake routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and general labouring duties while contributing to service improvement initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Clean public amenities and Council facilities in accordance with approved cleaning schedules, policies, and procedures
  2. Undertake minor maintenance and repair tasks including:
  • Unblocking toilets
  • Replacing toilet seats, fixtures, and locks
  • Graffiti removal and minor painting
  • Changing light bulbs
  1. Identify and report faults, damage, or maintenance issues to the Manager Open Spaces and Cemeteries
  2. Provide input into cleaning practices and schedules to support continuous improvement
  3. Perform general labouring duties, including:
  • Litter control and site maintenance
  • Operation of small plant and equipment

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Experience in cleaning, facilities maintenance, or a similar operational environment
  • Ability to undertake manual labour and work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards
  • Basic maintenance and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety practices
  • Current driver’s licence (essential)
