Select delivers Mechanical, Fire, Electrical, Security Systems and General Maintenance Works across Australia. 

About the role

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the HVAC operations division, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery. This role oversees maintenance contracts, project execution, workforce planning, customer relationships, and operational performance while providing leadership to supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and support staff.

The successful candidate will drive business growth by identifying and securing new opportunities, maintaining strong client partnerships, and ensuring high standards of service, quality, and compliance across all operations. They will be accountable for operational excellence, team development, customer satisfaction, and the overall profitability of the division.

The Operations Manager will report to the General Manager of Select Services. This is a full-time permanent position based in the Select office in Melbourne.

Day to day responsibilities include

• Lead and manage all HVAC service, maintenance, and minor project operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery.

• Oversee operational performance by monitoring KPIs, budgets, contractual obligations, service levels, and project outcomes.

• Manage workforce planning, scheduling, resource allocation, subcontractors, and business continuity requirements to optimise operational effectiveness.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service quality, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance.

• Provide strong leadership through coaching, recruitment, performance management, workforce development, and fostering a high-performance, safety-focused culture.

Qualifications/Licences 

• Trade qualification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical Services, Electrical, or a related field, with 7+ years of relevant experience.

• Proven experience in business development, sales, and customer relationship management.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, maintenance operations, and subcontractor management.

• Sound financial, commercial, and contract management skills.

• Strong leadership, communication, safety, and change management capabilities.
