Maintenance Fitter – Afternoon Shift

Location: Elizabeth, SA
Salary: $90,000+ Super + Shift Penalties + Overtime (depending on experience)

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business located in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager and Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across a modern production facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance across production equipment and machinery
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and production equipment faults
  • Perform plant inspections and scheduled maintenance activities
  • Support installation, commissioning, and upgrades of production equipment
  • Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment uptime
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with WHS, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and future site expansion projects
  • Support a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability and efficiency

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Trade qualification as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent
  • Previous experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, or related production environments
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and breakdown response
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and production machinery
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of GMP and HACCP principles highly regarded

Highly Regarded

  • PLC fault-finding experience or exposure
  • Experience working with automated production systems
  • Knowledge of robotic machinery and automation technology
  • CMMS or maintenance management software experience
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives

Additional Requirements

  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
  • Occasional weekend work may be required to support maintenance schedules, shutdowns, and breakdowns
  • Own tools of trade preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
  • Full Australian working rights
