FS Equipment is the go-to specialist for heavy-duty engine and transmission overhaul across the industrial marine, mining, and power generation sectors in Queensland. Our workshop handles some of the most complex rebuild work in the industry — Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit, John Deere, Yanmar, and Volvo engines alongside Twin Disc, Cat, and ZF transmissions — and we need a hands-on leader to keep the floor running at its best.

About FS Equipment

Based in Hemmant, Brisbane, FS Equipment specialises in the overhaul, repair, and rebuild of industrial engines and transmissions for the marine, mining, and power generation industries. Our core business is industrial marine engines, and our reputation is built on technical depth, fast turnaround, and getting it right the first time. We’re a tight-knit team that takes pride in the quality of our work.

The Role

You'll own the day-to-day operation of our workshop — scheduling jobs, leading a small team of diesel fitters, maintaining quality standards, and keeping work flowing on time. You'll be stepping into the shoes of our retiring workshop manager — there's a solid foundation here and plenty of room to put your own stamp on how the workshop runs.

What You’ll Do

·       Lead and coordinate a team of diesel fitters across engine and transmission overhaul, rebuild, and repair work

·       Plan and schedule workshop jobs to meet customer deadlines and maximise bay utilisation

·       Maintain quality control across all work leaving the workshop, with a particular focus on marine and industrial engine builds

·       Liaise with customers and management on job status, technical requirements, and delivery timelines

·       Coordinate parts ordering to keep jobs moving — sourcing what's needed and tracking orders through to delivery

·       Ensure the workshop meets WHS obligations and that safe work practices are consistently followed

What We’re Looking For

Required

·       Trade-qualified Diesel Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering — Diesel Fitting or equivalent)

·       Proven experience as a leading hand or workshop supervisor/manager in a heavy diesel environment

·       Hands-on experience with large industrial diesel engines — Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit, or similar

·       Manual driver’s licence (car)

·       Strong communication skills and the confidence to manage customer expectations alongside a technical team

Preferred

·       Experience with marine propulsion engines (inboard, commercial, or workboat)

·       Familiarity with heavy transmissions — Twin Disc, ZF, or Caterpillar

·       Exposure to power generation or mining equipment maintenance

·       Experience using workshop management or job-scheduling software

Compensation & Benefits

·       $120,000–$140,000 per year + superannuation (commensurate with experience)

·       Laptop provided

·       Fuel card provided

·       Stable, full-time role with a respected specialist workshop

·       Hemmant location — easy access from Brisbane’s south and east
