The Opportunity
As a Service Technician, you’ll carry out safe and high‑quality maintenance, repairs, overhauls, diagnostics, and commissioning on engines and compressors. This role is ideal for technicians experienced with large stationary gas or diesel engines and natural gas compression equipment.
Location: Eagle Farm (Brisbane) with travel to customer field site across Moomba (SA) and Roma (QLD)
About the roles
Support domestic and international customer sites on a roster rotation or at our Eagle Farm based workshop.
Conduct advanced troubleshooting, overhaul work, condition monitoring and commissioning.
Liaise with customer personnel and represent Enerflex professionally on site.
What is required
Mechanical trade qualification (Cert III or higher).
Minimum 2+ years’ experience with heavy engines (gas or diesel) and gas compressors (recip and screw)
Strong safety focus and basic computer skills.
Desire to learn and develop technically.
Preferred experience
Experience with Heavy Gas and Diesel Engines - e.g. Waukesha, Jenbacher, CAT etc.
Experience with Gas, Diesel and Electric Drive Compression Equipment - e.g. Bowden, Ariel, Ingersoll Rand, Gemini, Frick or similar.
Note - These are not mobile equipment/diesel fitter roles. They require experience on large stationary gas or diesel engines and natural gas compression equipment.
Technician Levels Summary (E → Master)
Enerflex uses a structured competency framework to support technician development and career progression. We are primarily looking for level B, C and A but would like to hear from everyone regardless of where you think you might sit.
Level E – Entry Technician
Basic trade skills; requires supervision.
Beginning to learn tools, tasks, and safe work habits.
Suitable for those new to the industry.
Level D – Developing Technician
Sound trade knowledge, able to follow OEM instructions.
Gaining competency in component assessment, disassembly and reassembly.
Provides guidance to apprentices and new starters.
Level C – Intermediate Technician (Field or HPU Stream)
Correctly identifies components and follows OEM procedures.
Capable of supervised overhauls and quality reporting.
May lead small technical tasks; stronger site/workshop competence.
Level B – Advanced Technician
Strong troubleshooting capability; competent in unsupervised overhauls.
Leads routine service tasks and mentors junior technicians.
High competence on known equipment and adaptable to new sites.
Level A – Senior Technician
Advanced troubleshooting for engines and compressors.
Leads complex maintenance, overhauls, and site activities.
Provides technical leadership, coaching, and development support.
Master Technician (General)
Highest mechanical competency level.
Deep technical knowledge of full package operation.
Supports international projects, commissioning, optimisation, and team leadership.
