Vehicle Body Builder – Truck Mechanic Full Time | Trades & Services | Regional NSW

About Us

We are a specialist manufacturer and outfitter of emergency service vehicles, delivering purpose-built solutions for Police, fire, rescue, and ambulance fleets across Australia. Our work is mission-critical — the vehicles we build save lives — and our team takes enormous pride in the quality and precision of what leaves our workshop.

Due to continued growth, we're looking for a skilled and trade-qualified Vehicle Body Builder / Truck Mechanic to join our experienced build team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on trade role working across the full build and fit-out lifecycle of emergency service vehicles including fire appliances, rescue trucks, and ambulances. You'll work from technical drawings and engineering specifications to fabricate, assemble, and commission complex vehicle builds to exacting standards.

Depending on your experience and capability, this role may also develop into a Team Leader position, with responsibility for guiding other tradespeople through builds and quality outcomes.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Reading, interpreting, and building from detailed technical drawings and engineering plans

  • Body building, fitting, and assembly of emergency vehicle superstructures and equipment modules

  • Mechanical diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy vehicle chassis and systems

  • Ensuring all work meets relevant safety, compliance, and quality standards

  • Collaborating with the broader build team on project timelines and milestones

  • Potential supervision and mentoring of junior tradespeople

About You

Essential:

  • Trade qualifications in Vehicle Body Building, Heavy Vehicle Mechanical, or a closely related discipline

  • Full trade licence

  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and build from technical drawings

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship

  • Reliable, team-oriented, and self-motivated

Highly Regarded:

  • Prior experience working on fire trucks, emergency vehicles, or ambulances

  • HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's licence

  • Forklift licence

  • Leadership experience or aspirations to step into a team leader role

Why Join Us

  • Work on some of the most technically complex and meaningful builds in the industry

  • Stable, long-term employment with a reputable regional employer

  • Supportive team environment with genuine career progression opportunities

  • Opportunity to grow into a Team Leader role for the right candidate

  • Competitive remuneration commensurate with experience
