About the role

Sydney Gym Fitout Co is seeking a skilled and reliable Gym Equipment Installer to join our team on a casual or part-time basis. Based all over Sydney with the opportunity for occasional rural/interstate travel (if desireable), this role offers flexible work opportunities for experienced technicians who are passionate about fitness and precision installation work.

As a Gym Equipment Installer, you will be responsible for the professional installation, assembly, and setup of gym equipment across various commercial and residential fitness facilities throughout Sydney. This role is crucial to ensuring our clients receive top-quality fitouts that meet safety standards and aesthetic expectations. You will work independently and as part of a team, depending on project requirements, and your attention to detail will directly impact client satisfaction and the reputation of Sydney Gym Fitout Co.

Key responsibilities

1. Install, assemble, and set up gym equipment including cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights, and functional training apparatus

2. Read and interpret installation manuals to ensure accurate equipment placement and assembly

3. Perform quality checks on all installed equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with manufacturer specifications and Australian safety standards

4. Test equipment functionality and make necessary adjustments or repairs to guarantee optimal performance

5. Prepare work sites by clearing and protecting floors, walls, and existing fixtures during installation processes

6. Disassemble and relocate gym equipment when required for refurbishment or facility modifications

7. Communicate professionally with clients, facility managers, and team members to ensure project timelines are met and expectations are exceeded

8. Adhere to health and safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment

9. Transport equipment safely using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment handling procedures

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a technician or installer, preferably in the fitness industry, mechanical assembly, or related trades

2. Strong knowledge of gym equipment types, brands, and installation requirements

3. Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals

4. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues independently

5. Physical fitness and capability to lift, carry, and manoeuvre heavy equipment safely (typically 20–50 kg)

6. Competency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

7. A current White Card (Construction Induction Card) or willingness to obtain one

8. A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation for travel between job sites

9. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work

10. Excellent communication and customer service skills

11. Flexibility to work weekdays and occasional evening shifts as required

12. Preferred: Experience with commercial gym fitouts, familiarity with brands/premium equipment manufacturers, and any relevant certifications or qualifications in equipment installation
