We are a privately owned SME located in Melbourne’s western suburbs, operating within the manufacturing and distribution industry. With a history spanning more than 70 years, we have established ourselves as a market leader across the sectors in which we operate.
Our manufacturing facility is equipped with a diverse range of advanced machinery, including CNC equipment and deep-drawing press machines, producing a broad range of products for the perimeter solutions market.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Fitter with tooling expertise to support our manufacturing operations. This position has become available following a recent retirement.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and skilled tradesperson with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. You will be confident in thinking outside the box to drive operational efficiency and reliability.
Perform changeovers, assembly, fitting, and repair of press and moulding tools
Maintain and repair press tools, jigs, fixtures, and tooling components
Operate machinery including CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM equipment
Independently attend to machine breakdowns (manual and automated presses), diagnose root causes, and implement solutions or engage external contractors as required
Interpret engineering drawings and assist in the fabrication of projects, jigs, and fixtures
Conduct and manage scheduled maintenance, including troubleshooting of mechanical presses, CNC machines, plastic moulding equipment, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Manage spare parts inventory for machinery and production equipment
Apply strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently
Support and drive continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
Guide and mentor production teams in continuous improvement activities to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
Lead and support Die Setters with setups and training, including Quick Die Change (QDC) projects
Mechanical Engineering trade qualification
Proven experience in tool and die maintenance
Experience within a high-volume, low-variability manufacturing environment
Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
