CNC Machinist

Gladstone, QLD | $45-$60 per hour | Full-Time Permanent

About the Role

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for programming, setting up and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality precision components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

You will work with a range of equipment including:

  • Okuma CNC Lathes and Machining Centres

  • Mazak Machining Centres

  • Makino 5-Axis Machining Centres

  • Harrison Alpha Lathes

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC Mills and Lathes

  • Producing components to engineering drawings and customer specifications

  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings

  • Selecting tooling and machining strategies

  • Conducting in-process and final inspections

  • Using precision measuring equipment to achieve tight tolerances

  • Maintaining quality records and documentation

  • Following company quality and safety procedures

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You are someone who takes pride in producing quality work and understands the importance of precision, safety and attention to detail.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade qualification in Engineering (Machining) or relevant industry experience

  • Experience programming, setting and operating CNC machines

  • CNC Milling and/or CNC Turning experience

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Good computer skills

  • A commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety

Highly regarded:

  • 5-Axis machining experience

  • CAD/CAM programming experience

  • Mastercam experience

  • Experience with Okuma controls

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems
