Field Service Technician

IDS GeoRadar a global leader in Ground-Based Interferometry and Ground Penetrating Radar solutions operating under the Hexagon group, is committed to driving innovations in business processes, value chains, and information exchange. Our focus lies in manufacturing and selling monitoring systems tailored for the mining and engineering sector. In line with our expansion and project requirements, we are currently seeking an individual to address our customers' needs across the diverse range of GeoRadar products we offer.

As part of a collaborative team spanning the APAC region, your role will involve responding to support requests, investigating issues through log analysis and troubleshooting, and applying your technical skills to resolve them. The initial training phase will immerse you in the production team, providing a comprehensive understanding of the system's hardware and software mechanisms.

This position offers exciting opportunities for travel to various mine site locations in the APAC Region. During your initial site visits, you'll accompany one of our engineers to gain hands-on experience in servicing, building customer rapport, handling system repairs, and more. Each day will present unique challenges, whether working in the office or out on site, offering the satisfaction of solving problems akin to completing the final piece of a puzzle.

Role Summary:

  • Provide exceptional customer service and support for existing GeoRadar equipment throughout Australia and the APAC region, ensuring a seamless user experience.

  • Engage in hands-on assembly, modification, and testing of cutting-edge GeoRadar systems, actively contributing to system enhancements.

  • Lead on-site installations and commissioning activities, adding a practical dimension to the deployment of innovative solutions.

  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions for customers, delivering expert support both on-site and remotely to optimize their use of GeoRadar products. 

  • Take ownership of setting up and maintaining IT infrastructure on radar systems and base servers, including IT networking and P2P access points.

  • Uphold meticulous record-keeping and adherence to site procedures, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace safety by adhering to Hexagon’s Workplace Health and Safety policies, actively participating in audits, and following prescribed instructions for the well-being of oneself and others.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous mine site experience and involvement with other radar technologies.

  • Strong Electro-Mechanical skills.

  • Experience in IT networking, including router setup and WiFi access points.

  • Exceptional customer service and support skills.

  • Proactive and capable of working autonomously, and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning, coaching, and continuous development.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suites.

  • High proficiency in English language verbal and written communication.

  • Documentation preparation and generation skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude with a logical and practical problem-solving approach.

  • Enthusiasm for travel to various locations, including overseas.

  • Previous exposure to radar technologies (will be highly regarded).

  • Civil site work experience (preferable but not essential).

  • Current driver’s license.
