About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Operations Manager / Junior Electrical Estimator to join our growing team.
This is a diverse role that combines estimating, project coordination, operational support, and client engagement. Working within a small business environment, the successful candidate will work closely with management to assist in the day-to-day operations of the business while developing their estimating and project management skills.
The role is ideally suited to someone with an electrical background who is looking to transition from the tools into a management and estimating position, or an experienced coordinator seeking the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Project Coordination
Assist with the planning and coordination of labour, materials, and project resources
Monitor project progress and support field staff with day-to-day operational requirements
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
Assist with scheduling and resource allocation
Support project handovers and completion documentation
Maintain project records, reports, and compliance documentation
Estimating & Business Development
Assist in preparing estimates and quotations for industrial, commercial, and insurance projects
Interpret plans, specifications, and scopes of work
Conduct site inspections and measure-ups as required
Liaise with clients, builders, and suppliers to clarify project requirements
Prepare material take-offs and labour allowances
Assist in identifying and pricing variations
Attend client meetings and help develop new business opportunities
About You
Essential Requirements
Strong knowledge of Australian Electrical Standards, including AS/NZS 3000
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
Current Victorian Driver Licence
Highly Regarded
Current Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence
Previous estimating, project coordination, or supervisory experience
Experience within industrial, commercial, or insurance building sectors
Experience using Simpro or similar job management software
Electrical trade background
Location Preference
As this position is both office and site based, applicants who are located in close proximity to Officer and the South East suburbs of Melbourne will be highly regarded.
