With over 25 years of industry experience and continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Qualified Mechanical Fitter – Industrial / Process Equipment to join our skilled team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter looking for varied project work across workshop fabrication, mechanical assembly, installation, and maintenance of specialised industrial equipment.

The role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional site work supporting water infrastructure, industrial facilities, and project installations across Sydney and surrounding areas.


About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter with JLE, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, installation, servicing, and maintenance of industrial process equipment and associated systems.

Your role will include:

  • Mechanical fitting, assembly, installation, and maintenance of industrial equipment

  • Installation and alignment of pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, and mechanical components

  • Assembly and installation of process equipment, pipework, and fabricated components

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation

  • Precision fitting, measuring, drilling, grinding, and modification of components

  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues and carrying out repairs and maintenance activities

  • Assisting with shutdown works, site installations, and commissioning activities

  • Working alongside boilermakers, welders, and project teams to deliver quality outcomes

  • Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent)

  • Proven experience within an industrial, manufacturing, process, or infrastructure environment

  • Experience working with pumps, valves, gearboxes, motors, pipework, and mechanical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, experienced team

  • A strong focus on safety, quality, and attention to detail


Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Construction White Card

  • Ability to complete site inductions and comply with customer safety requirements


Desirable Qualifications

  • Forklift Licence

  • Working at Heights

  • Confined Space Training

  • EWP Licence

  • Dogging and/or Rigging Licence

  • Experience within water treatment, process plants, or industrial infrastructure environments
