Job brief

The Business Machine Mechanic is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and multi-functional devises according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the company’s business SLA’s goals and objectives

Experience required:

  • Proven experience of working in a technical service and repair role

  • Ability to handle a varied workload and able to prioritise own tasks without constant supervision

  • Experience of dealing with customers in a face-to-face situation

  • Of working from technical specification sheets and problem solving on site

  • Assisting with spare parts interpretation, ordering or basic stock control

Responsibilities

  • To undertake pre-delivery run ups on photocopying machines, successful installation of new and used MFD’s, diagnostic fault finding, repairs and ongoing maintenance of machines in the field.

  • Liaising with internal and external customers to create a positive image of the company, liaising with others regarding ordering replacement parts, warranty claims and similar after-sales support.

  • Carry out product and firmware upgrades plus occasional basic software support to achieve high customer satisfaction levels. 

  • Provide online and telephone support to remote areas where practicable to reduce unnecessary travel expenditure.

  • To provide on-site and central workshop technical maintenance and support, servicing and emergency repairs. Some elements of basic stock control and ordering of parts and materials will be required.

  • Completing relevant paperwork, managing time and logistics.   

  • In some instances, the work is responsive to demand and time constrained as part of our service level agreements (SLA’s).

  • Remote visits and working closely with indigenous communities are required to meet the demands of the contracts. Liaise with other team members to maximise logistical efficiencies. 

  • Technicians are expected to be able to work flexibly across all product areas, with full training and support provided. 

  • All staff are required to adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with relevant OHS legislation.

  • The company supports the principles of continuous improvement. Technicians will be expected to provide regular updates and reports on progress to their supervisor and identify any areas for improvement for the company or individual training through periodic personal development reviews.

  • Technicians act as representatives of the company and are expected to work to high personal standards of behavior and personal presentation. 

  • Inspect, test and diagnose faults in photocopiers, printers, multifunction devices and associated business equipment.

  • Dismantle equipment and replace defective mechanical, electrical and electronic components.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and performance testing to ensure equipment operates in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.

 

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Able to obtain necessary police clearances, where necessary

  • Vocational qualification relevant to the role - AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

  • Relevant electrical, mechanical or technical trade qualification and/or at least three years of relevant industry experience in the maintenance and repair of business machines, photocopiers, printers or multifunction devices.

  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP).
