Gardener - Sandstone Point Hotel

About the role

Sandstone Point Hotel is seeking a dedicated Gardener to join our hospitality team on a part-time basis. Based at our picturesque location in Sandstone Point, QLD 4511, this role is essential to maintaining the aesthetic appeal and horticultural excellence of our hotel grounds. As Gardener, you will play a vital role in creating an inviting outdoor environment that enhances our guests' experience and reflects the high standards of our establishment.

Key responsibilities

1. Maintain and cultivate garden beds, and landscaped areas throughout the hotel grounds to the highest standard

2. Perform regular pruning, weeding and deadheading of plants, shrubs and trees

3. Water gardens according to seasonal requirements and plant needs

4. Plan and implement seasonal planting schemes to ensure year-round visual appeal

5. Identify and address plant diseases, pests and other horticultural issues promptly

6. Assist with special events and guest areas as required to support hotel operations
   

What we're looking for

1. Comprehensive knowledge of plant care, cultivation and seasonal maintenance practices - optional

2. Proficiency in the safe operation of garden machinery and hand tools

3. Understanding of horticulture, including plant identification, soil management and pest control - optional

4. Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

5. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards

6. Reliable, hardworking and proactive approach to tasks

7. Relevant qualifications or certifications in horticulture or landscaping (preferred)

8. Valid Australian work authorization or acceptable work visa status is required

9. A genuine passion for horticulture and maintaining a beautiful environment for guests

10. Ability to speak with guests about the grounds and its offerings
