We are looking for a motivated and reliable 1st Year Apprentice Butcher to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to build a long-term career in the meat industry while gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn all aspects of retail butchery from experienced professionals in a supportive and family-oriented environment.

 

About the Role

As an Apprentice Butcher, you will work alongside qualified butchers and experienced team members to learn the skills required to become a trade-qualified butcher.

You will gain hands-on experience in meat preparation, customer service, food safety, product presentation and retail operations while completing your apprenticeship training.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn basic meat preparation and cutting techniques

  • Assist with preparing products for display and sale

  • Support qualified butchers with daily production tasks

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the workplace

  • Assist customers and provide friendly customer service

  • Learn safe food handling and workplace safety procedures

  • Help with stock rotation, packing and merchandising

  • Participate in formal apprenticeship training and complete required coursework

  • Work as part of a team to ensure smooth daily operations

 

What We're Looking For

  • Genuine interest in becoming a qualified butcher

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely

  • Physically fit and comfortable working in a refrigerated environment

  • Commitment to completing a Certificate III in Meat Processing (Retail Butcher)

 

No previous experience is required. We are looking for someone with the right attitude who is eager to learn and develop a trade.

Requirements

  • Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or eligible to undertake an Australian Apprenticeship

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends if required
