Delivery Truck Driver

About the role

Bargain Steel Centre is seeking an experienced HC Truck Driver to join our team in Burton, SA 5110. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our logistics operations, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of materials and products to our customers and internal operations. As a Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy commercial vehicles and maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism and customer service. This position is integral to our supply chain and directly impacts our ability to serve our customers reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently in compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies

• Plan and execute delivery routes, ensuring timely arrival at destinations whilst minimising fuel consumption

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is roadworthy and report any mechanical issues immediately

• Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation.

• Load and secure cargo appropriately, ensuring compliance with weight distribution regulations and safety standards

• Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse staff and management throughout the delivery process

• Adhere strictly to traffic laws, speed limits and road safety regulations at all times

• Maintain a clean and well-presented vehicle both internally and externally

• Support warehouse operations and assist with loading or unloading when required

• Respond professionally to customer inquiries and feedback regarding deliveries

What we're looking for

• Valid HC driving licence with a clean driving record

• Minimum 2–3 years' experience driving heavy commercial vehicles in a transport or logistics environment

• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian road rules, load management regulations and heavy vehicle legislation

• Proven ability to operate safely and defensively in various traffic and weather conditions

• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet delivery schedules consistently

• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach to customer interactions

• Physical fitness to safely perform loading and unloading duties as required

• Reliability and punctuality with a strong commitment to workplace safety

• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle checks and identify potential issues
