About the Role

As the Landscape and Arborist Officer, you will:

• Assess development applications proposing tree removal and other applications to prune and remove trees against relevant regulations, standards and policies.

• Review and comment on landscape plans associated with development applications, including proposals for tree removal and replacement.

• Analyse, translate and interpret specialised arboricultural reports to support strategic and practical development applications.

• Review, inspect and provide feedback on public domain works, conditions of consent and other related matters.

• Represent Council in relevant court matters.

• Provide accurate and timely referral advice and support regarding tree protection, selection and management to mitigate development impacts on existing public and private trees.

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary Qualifications in horticulture, landscape architecture, arboriculture or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook, with experience in electronic records management.

• Demonstrated expertise in landscape and tree inspections, compliance assessment and data capture.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.

• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with a customer and delivery focus.

• Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous organisational improvement.

• Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.

Desirable

• Qualifications in landscape architecture, landscape design, urban design or related discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Experience in local or state government or similar environment.

• Experience with TechnologyOne.
