Zoom Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and safety-focused Maintenance Fitter to join an established manufacturing and distribution operation based in Western Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated tradesperson looking for stable work within a high-performing maintenance team. You'll be working across preventative, breakdown and continuous improvement maintenance on static and rotating equipment in a fast-paced industrial environment.

  • Location: Rooty Hill
  • Pay Rate: $$46.71 - $51.51 per hour (based on experience + OT rates)
  • Shifts: 6AM starts, Monday to Friday Ongoing Rosters (Overtime available), Wednesday longer days due to weekly shutdown

About the Role

In this role, you will need to take ownership, accountability and display initiative in supporting the ongoing reliability and maintenance of plant equipment across the site.

Your duties will include:

  • Preventative and predictive maintenance activities (i.e. fitting tasks)
  • Breakdown response and fault finding
  • Maintenance and repair of conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and gearboxes, valves
  • Aligning shafts and replacing bearings
  • Repairing and overhauling plant equipment
  • Supporting shutdown and continuous improvement activities
  • Non-structural welding and fabrication work
  • Recording maintenance activities in SAP or CMMS systems
  • Liaising with contractors and supervising work groups (where required)
  • Supporting crane, lubrication and fume treatment systems
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Participating in weekly shutdown maintenance activities where 12-hour shifts may be required on Wednesdays and Thursdays (occasionally)
  • Remaining available for after-hours call-ins for emergent breakdown and maintenance works when required

What You Will Bring

We would love to hear from hardworking and enthusiastic candidates who ideally have a background in heavy industry and can demonstrate the following:

  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification
  • Strong preventative and breakdown maintenance experience
  • Exceptional fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve effectively
  • Confident communication skills and strong teamwork capability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Fabrication and basic machining capability highly regarded
  • Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • SAP or CMMS exposure highly regarded
  • Previous shutdown maintenance experience
  • Background within heavy industry, manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Flexibility to work across rotating rosters and operational requirements

Important Availability Requirement

Successful applicants must:

  • Be available to work throughout the December and January period
  • Be flexible to work 12-hour shifts on weekly down days where required
  • Be available for overtime and after-hours emergent works as operational needs arise
