AutoPlay is a software technology business, we help automotive dealerships and dealer groups turn their hard-won leads into buyers, through smart lead management technology and better customer handling. Think sales pipeline tools, listing data, email and video sales tools, analytics and automation, with plenty more on the roadmap.

We've spent years building software that dealers love. Now we want the rest of the market to know about it, and that is where you come in.

A genuine blank canvas

This is our first and only marketing hire. No legacy playbook, no "we've always done it this way", just a real opportunity to own the strategy, build the function from the ground up and drive our next stage of growth. If you have ever wanted to put your fingerprints all over something, this is it.

The full-stack, AI-first bit

We are after a full-stack marketer who can move comfortably across digital, content, events, automation, search and brand, rather than living in one lane. That is a big patch for one person, which is exactly why we are AI-first.

When we talk about a 10x marketer, we do not mean it literally (we are not expecting you to clone yourself, though points for trying). We mean someone who uses the latest AI tools to do the work of a much bigger team, with the judgement to keep the quality and the brand voice intact. You are on the tools every day, pushing continuous improvement and always asking how we could do this better.

What you'll be doing

  • Building a real lead pipeline for a B2B audience through digital channels, legacy and trade media, and good old-fashioned in-person events

  • Owning the funnel from first touch to qualified lead, and working hand in hand with sales

  • Running our content, brand, SEO and AI-search visibility, and marketing automation

  • Turning what our platform does into messaging a dealer actually cares about

  • Measuring what works, being honest about what does not, and deciding where the next dollar goes

  • Getting out from behind the desk now and then, as there is a bit of travel across NZ and Australia

Who we're looking for

We are not hung up on years of experience. Someone who spent years in meeting rooms tends to learn less than someone who spent half the time actually making things happen. Outcomes tell the story, and that is what we want to see.

You'll probably be someone who:

  • Has a track record of real, measurable results, not just titles and tenure

  • Thinks strategically but is happy to roll up the sleeves and do the work

  • Lives by "yes, anything is possible" rather than "no, we have always done it this way"

  • Uses AI tools daily and is genuinely excited by what they make possible

  • Brings out-of-the-box thinking and a champion-of-change mindset

  • Writes well and communicates clearly

How we work

We are an office-first team. The best strategy gets built in the room, through the everyday chats that do not happen the same way over a screen, so being in means you are part of the conversation.

Flexibility is earned, not assumed. Once you are established we are reasonable about life, whether that is a morning waiting on the plumber or some heads-down time on a big project, but this is not a remote role in disguise.

This role is office-based. We are open to candidates in Auckland, or in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney or Perth).

A couple of must-haves

  • Permanent working rights in New Zealand or Australia

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Sound like you?

If you would rather build the engine than be handed the keys to someone else's, we would love to hear from you. Show us the outcomes you have driven and how you put AI to work. We care more about what you have achieved than how long it took you to get there.
