Rentco Transport Equipment Rentals is Australia's leading provider of commercial vehicle and equipment rental solutions, supporting industries that keep the country moving, including transport, logistics, construction, mining, and agriculture.
We are seeking 2 X Workshop Mechanics to assist with the maintenance and repair of our fleet and trailer combinations. This position is based at our branch in Brisbane with a Monday to Friday roster.
About the Role
As a qualified and experienced Workshop Mechanic, you will leverage your expertise across a diverse range of heavy and light vehicles. Workshop Mechanic is responsible for carrying out high‑quality mechanical maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and servicing on company vehicles, trucks, and trailers. This role ensures all fleet assets are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulatory and operational standards.
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs on vehicles, trucks, trailers, and associated equipment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
Undertake engine overhauls, brake repairs, suspension work, drivetrain repairs, and fault rectification as required.
Ensure all work is completed to manufacturers' standards, service checklists and organisational safety expectations.
Maintain accurate service and repair records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Attend to emergency breakdowns as instructed using the company field service unit.
About You
Fully qualified Mechanic (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Current driver's licence (HR licence an advantage)
Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, trucks, and trailers.
Minimum 3-4 years of experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, trucks, and trailers is required.
Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving capability.
Ability to mentor and support apprentices.
Current driver's licence (HR or higher desirable).
Strong commitment to safe work practices.
Australian permanent resident status is required.
Desirable
Experience working in a workshop servicing mixed fleets – LV & HV
Exposure to hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and fault diagnostic software
