About the role

Nick's Cranetrucks Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Crane Truck Driver to join our team in Burton, SA. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to operate specialised heavy vehicles in the transport and logistics sector. As a Crane Truck Driver, you will play a vital role in our operations, safely transporting and positioning crane-equipped vehicles to support construction, industrial, and commercial projects across the region. Your expertise and professionalism will be essential to maintaining our reputation for reliable, safe, and efficient service delivery.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate and manoeuvre crane trucks safely and professionally to transport loads and equipment to designated locations

2. Perform pre-operation and post-operation vehicle inspections to ensure the crane truck is in optimal working condition and report any maintenance issues immediately

3. Position and stabilise the crane truck at job sites using appropriate techniques and safety procedures

4. Communicate effectively with site supervisors, spotters, and other team members to coordinate safe loading, unloading, and positioning operations

5. Comply with all relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies whilst operating heavy vehicles on public roads and private sites

6. Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation including fuel consumption, mileage, and incident reports

7. Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of the crane truck to maintain a professional standard

8. Respond promptly to job dispatch calls and manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines

9. Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth site operations and customer satisfaction

What we're looking for

1. Current, valid heavy vehicle driving licence appropriate for operating crane trucks (Heavy Rigid or Articulated classification minimum)

2. Proven experience operating crane trucks or similar heavy commercial vehicles in a professional capacity

3. Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle safety systems, load management, and site-based safety protocols

4. Strong understanding of road safety regulations and commitment to compliant, defensive driving practices

5. Ability to accurately interpret job requirements, maps, and site directions

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients

7. Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks associated with vehicle operations and site work

8. Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude towards work commitments

9. Willingness to undergo training in company-specific procedures and safety systems

10. Current or willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check or other relevant clearances as required

11. Valid Australian work rights including citizenship, permanent residency, or appropriate work visa
