About the role

Driveline Auto Repairs is seeking a skilled and experienced Automotive Technician / Motor Mechanic to join our team in New Town, Tasmania. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing vehicles to the highest standards. As a Automotive Technician / Motor Mechanic, you will be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our customers receive reliable, professional service and that their vehicles are kept in optimal condition. Your expertise and attention to detail will directly contribute to our reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical faults and problems using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

• Performing routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, brake servicing, and fluid top-ups

• Repairing and replacing defective parts, including engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical components

• Conducting comprehensive vehicle inspections and providing customers with detailed reports on vehicle condition and recommended repairs

• Test driving vehicles after every repairs and servicing to ensure they meet safety and quality standards

• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures

• Communicating effectively with service manager regarding repair estimates, timelines, and any additional issues identified during servicing

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification or equivalent experience as a Motor Mechanic or similar automotive technician role

• Proven experience in general mechanical repair and maintenance of motor vehicles

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a workshop environment

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

• Valid driver's licence and ability to test drive vehicles safely

• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
