OUR FACILITY: Our near-new workshops and retail store are based in Stapylton (Yatala), Queensland, conveniently located just off the M1 Motorway.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and reliable Leading Hand Welder/Fabricator to join our team.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
You will step into a hands-on Leading Hand Welder/Fabricator role within a modern, near-new fabrication facility. This position involves leading and supporting a small team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day welding and fabrication work, Working closely with the Production Manager and senior staff, you’ll help drive workflow, maintain quality standards, and ensure jobs are completed safely and efficiently from start to finish.
This role includes welding and fabricating a range of components such as stainless steel fuel tanks, tubular machine frames, base plates, brackets, and a variety of other tasks.
You will be involved in custom sheet metal fabrication work, including light to medium fabrication projects.
A range of fabrication tasks and techniques including cutting (guillotine), folding (pan brake), drilling, MIG welding mild steel, and TIG welding stainless steel and aluminium.
Work in a near-new fabrication facility with your own dedicated work bay, with tools provided.
This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm.
Skills & Experience
Applicants must be qualified Welder/Fabricator tradespeople with a relevant trade certificate and proven post-trade industry experience in a similar role (Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade).
Excellent MIG and TIG welding skills are essential for this position.
Strong leadership capabilities, lead a small team, mentoring apprentices, and driving team performance, accountability, and professional development.
Work closely with the Production Manager and other senior fabrication staff to coordinate daily operations, prioritise workloads, and ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, identifying requirements and ensuring work is completed to the required standards.
Lead and oversee the execution of jobs from planning and coordination through to quality checks and final completion.
Assembly, fabrication and welding experience in light and medium fabrication.
Ability to use a variety of tools and techniques including experience with hand tools, machinery e.g, pan brake, guillotine, welders.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to achieve a high-quality product.
Have a positive and mature attitude, be punctual and reliable.
Essential you are able to work as part of a team in a busy workshop; work unsupervised and in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
Strong communication and written skills, with the ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment on a daily basis.
A current driver’s licence and reliable transport are required.
A current Forklift licence (LF) is required for this position.
This Position Offers
Immediate start is available - Full time position.
Consistent Mon to Fri hours 7am-4pm, with no shift work or weekend work.
