About the role

Commsecurity PTY LTD is seeking a talented AutoCAD/Drafter to join our growing team in Surrey Hills, Victoria. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our security services operations. As an AutoCAD/Drafter, you will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and designs that support the planning, implementation and maintenance of our security solutions. Your work will directly contribute to the success of our projects and the safety of our clients, making this a strategically important role within our organization.

Key responsibilities

1. Create and develop accurate technical drawings and designs using AutoCAD software for security system installations and layouts

2. Collaborate with project managers, engineers and security specialists to understand project requirements and translate them into comprehensive visual designs

3. Modify and update existing drawings based on feedback from clients, site surveys and engineering teams

4. Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations and company standards

5. Maintain organized digital filing systems and documentation for all project drawings and revisions

6. Liaise with clients and internal teams to clarify design specifications and resolve any technical drawing issues

7. Produce bills of materials and specification sheets based on drafted designs

8. Support site surveys and site assessments to gather accurate information for drawing production

What we're looking for

1. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and ideally 3D), with demonstrated experience producing technical drawings and designs

2. Knowledge of security systems, CCTV, access control or related security technologies (or willingness to develop this knowledge)

3. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, professional drawings that meet strict specifications

4. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with clients, project teams and internal stakeholders

5. Understanding of building codes, safety standards and relevant industry regulations

6. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

7. Problem-solving mindset with the capability to adapt designs based on practical site requirements

8. A qualification in drafting, CAD design, architecture or engineering (or equivalent practical experience)

9. Experience in the security services, electrical or construction industries would be highly advantageous

10. Familiarity with other design software such as Revit, SketchUp or similar programmed is desirable
