About the role

D.S. Labels Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Slitter Operator to join our production team in Marrickville, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our printing and publishing services operations. As a Slitter Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining slitting machinery to cut printed materials to precise specifications, ensuring high-quality output that meets our clients' exacting standards. This role is essential to maintaining our production efficiency and delivering excellence to our customers.

Key responsibilities

1. Operating slitting machinery to cut printed materials, labels, and other products to precise specifications and dimensions

2. Setting up and adjusting slitting equipment according to job requirements and technical drawings

3. Monitoring machine performance and ensuring consistent output quality throughout production runs

4. Inspecting finished products for quality defects, alignment issues, and adherence to specifications

5. Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of slitting equipment to ensure optimal functionality

6. Recording production data, including job details, quantities produced, and any issues encountered

7. Identifying and troubleshooting minor equipment issues, with escalation to maintenance staff when necessary

8. Following all health and safety protocols and maintaining a clean, safe working environment

9. Collaborating with team members to meet production schedules and deadlines

10. Maintaining attention to detail whilst working at production speeds to minimise waste

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience operating slitting machines or similar cutting equipment in a manufacturing or printing environment

2. Strong understanding of machinery operation and the ability to adjust settings for different materials and specifications

3. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards

4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job tickets accurately

5. Good mechanical aptitude and basic problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment issues

6. Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required

7. Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work consistently within a team environment

8. Commitment to health and safety practices and adherence to workplace protocols

9. Flexibility to adapt to shift work or varying production schedules if required

10. Previous experience in the printing or bookbinding industry is highly desirable
