About the role
Eclipse Energy Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join our growing team in Cairns, QLD. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and installing air conditioning and refrigeration systems for our valued clients across the region. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for ensuring that systems operate at peak efficiency whilst maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and industrial clients
Diagnose system faults using specialised diagnostic equipment and tools, and identify effective solutions
Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance
Test refrigerants, pressures, and electrical components to ensure compliance with industry standards
Comply with relevant safety regulations, environmental legislation, and company policies during all work activities
Document all work completed, including parts used, time spent, and any recommendations for future maintenance
Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical issues, solutions, and maintenance requirements
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any defects or maintenance needs
Respond promptly to emergency service calls and work flexibly to meet client demands
Collaborate with team members and support the delivery of high-quality customer service
What we're looking for
Hold a Qualification in air conditioning and refrigeration
Current licence to work with refrigerants
Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration systems
Sound knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical specifications
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, pressure gauges, and other specialised mechanical tools
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the Cairns region
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service
Physical fitness and ability to work safely in confined spaces and at heights
Understanding of relevant legislation including occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and building codes
Current First Aid certification (desirable)
