The Opportunity
AJL Marine is seeking an experienced and motivated Boilermaker to join our team in Truganina.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on major marine repair and fabrication projects, including vessels supporting the Spirit of Tasmania operation. The role offers a diverse mix of workshop fabrication, ship repair, pipework, structural steelwork and onboard vessel maintenance.
Key responsibilities:
Perform high-quality pipe welding and fabrication work (essential)
Carry out MIG, Flux core, TIG and Stick welding to a high standard
Work on marine vessels, including onboard repairs and maintenance
Interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications
Conduct inspections, fault-finding and structural assessments
Modify and reinforce components to improve safety and durability
Collaborate with mechanics, fitters and other trades across projects
Maintain accurate job documentation and complete job cards
Ensure compliance with safety, quality and marine standards
Maintain a clean and organised work environment
Support apprentices and contribute to team productivity
About You
Perform high-quality pipe welding and fabrication work (essential)
Carry out MIG, Flux core, TIG and Stick welding to a high standard
Trade qualified Boilermaker (Cert III or higher)
Strong, proven experience working as a boilermaker within the marine industry or having adjacent skills and experience. Experience with pipe welding is highly regarded.
5+ years in fabrication, ideally in marine, ship repair or heavy engineering
Ability to read drawings and work independently
Strong commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
Current driver’s licence
