The Role

As a Mechanical Technician (Diesel Mechanic – C8), you will be part of a busy, multi‑skilled team responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of fire appliances and associated equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing scheduled maintenance and repairs on fire appliances and ancillary equipment

  • Providing emergency field service repairs on the fireground, supporting operational Firefighter crews

  • Maintaining the highest Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards at all times, both in the workshop and in the field

  • Contributing to projects and initiatives in collaboration with other trades and departments across the organisation

Experience with fire appliances or emergency vehicles is advantageous but not essential.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Diesel Mechanic Trade Qualification (Compulsory)

Compulsory: A Trade qualification is mandatory.

A trade qualification is issued at the completion of a trade Apprenticeship. A Certificate does not meet FRV’s qualification requirements.  Only Trade qualified applications will be considered.

  • Current Victorian HR Driver’s Licence (Compulsory)

  • Substantial experience as a Diesel Mechanic

  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship
