ABOUT GTG AUTOMOTIVE

GTG Automotive is a specialist independent workshop based in McLaren Vale, South Australia. We operate across Adventure, Classic and Luxury automotive markets in service, repair and restoration. Our service division is set up to look after all makes and models and operates out of our purpose-built workshop featuring 6 hoists and the latest equipment. This facility has been equipped to enable growth well into the future of the business. GTG has become known for its work across the various Toyota Land Cruiser platforms, and this remains a very large part of our business today. Sunday Driver Social Club has been set up to operate alongside the garage and acts a retail / social / coffee hub for motoring enthusiasts from all walks of life.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a full-scope mechanical position. You'll work across the complete range of GTG jobs — logbook servicing, diagnostic and repair work, and restoration projects.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES

- Logbook servicing and scheduled maintenance across petrol and diesel light vehicles

- Fault diagnosis and repair — mechanical, electrical and engine management systems

- Toyota Landcruiser service and repair across all platforms

- Restoration work on Adventure & Classic vehicles — mechanical rebuild, drivetrain overhaul and systems refurbishment

- Suspension, brake and drivetrain upgrades for Adventure and touring applications

- Pre-purchase inspections and condition assessments on Classic and high-value vehicles

- Accurate job card completion and clear communication on parts and work scope requirements

- Maintaining workshop standards — bay presentation, tool accountability and safe work practices

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

- Be solutions based, highly effective with strong work ethic

- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification)

- Minimum 4 years post-trade workshop experience

- Strong diagnostic ability across mechanical and electronic systems

- Hands-on experience with Toyota 4WD platforms

- Current, unrestricted South Australian driver's licence

- Own comprehensive tool kit

 

Highly Regarded:

- High level of workmanship across all services and repairs performed

- Experience with mechanical vehicle restoration - Engine & Driveline

- Knowledge of Toyota diesel engines: 2H, 12HT, 1HZ, 1HD-T, 1DH-FT & FTE, 1VD-FTV

- Familiarity with SA engineering certification for modified or restored vehicles

- Experience fitting 4WD accessories — suspension lifts, accessories, touring equipment

- Previous work with high-value or collector vehicles

WHAT'S ON OFFER

- $90,000 – $120,000 base salary + superannuation (negotiated on experience and skills)

- 9-day fortnight
